Install Unreal Engine 5

We were waiting for it for a long time, but at last, it has happened!

Unreal Engine 5 has been published!

So, let’s install it first.

  • First, things first, we have to install the Epic Game Launcher. We have to go to https://store.epicgames.com/ and click on the Download button.
  • The browser should download it pretty fast, and after it is finished – run it.
  • Depending on the platform installation process could be different. For Windows just accept everything, for Mac move to the application folder.
  • After you install everything, don’t forget to log in. Without it you could not move further.
  • (If you need a support, ask it in our Discord)
  • After you launch “Epic Game Launcher” you should see something like that:
  • Click on “Unreal Engine” button in left side menu and new page will be opened:
  • Now, we have to click “Library” button on top.
  • After this page loading, find “+” button next to a label “Engine version”
  • Click on it, you will see a new plate below:
  • Using a dropdown on it, choose version which you preferred. (We are going to use 5.0.+ for our lessons)
  • And click “Install” button.
  • After installation you will see something like that:
  • Click “Launch” and wait until it is loading.
  • It could ass you something like that “Do you want the application “UnrealEditor.app” to accept incoming network connections? Clicking Deny may limit the application’s behavior. This setting can be changed in the Firewall pane of Security & Privacy preferences.” :
  • No worries, just click “Allow” button.
  • the next thing is this:
  • It could take a time, additionally it could get stuck *facepalm*, just close it and run again, it should be only once, after first start – editor will be ok.
